User Research for Everyone
Aras Bilgen is the head of design in Garanti, a BBVA joint venture in Turkey. His team of designers and front end developers work on mobile apps, web sites, ATMs to enterprise software, discovery, and long-term strategic research. Prior to Garanti, he was the product director for ÇiçekSepeti, largest flower site in the world. Aras was a Product Development Group Manager at Monitise, where his team delivered top-notch digital experiences for Visa, eBay and Turkish Airlines. He worked on Tizen and MeeGo at Intel as a UX planner. He is an avid cook and drives his colleagues nuts by winning all food-related trivia games. You can find him at @arasb on Twitter.
A solid understanding of user needs is essential for creating good user experiences, yet it is very common to see horrendous user
research approaches in our projects. In this workshop you will learn how to champion for great
user research, even if you are not a designer or a researcher. In the first part,
we will go over a wide range of user research methods, see how each method creates
different types of insights, and hear tips to avoid common research mistakes.
In the second part, we will go over a series of case studies together to see
how leading companies plan, execute and analyse user research in three simple steps.
